Credit and Collections Specialist

A.    PURPOSE OF JOB  

 

The Credit and Collections Specialist is responsible for leading and optimizing the accounts’ receivable function while ensuring accurate and timely processing of customer payments, managing collections, and maintaining customer relationships.

 

B.    JOB DUTIES

  • Administer company credit application process by reviewing the credit application for approval, researching, and determining lines of credit based on established company guidelines.

  • Evaluate customer records and make adjustments to credit limits as necessary.

  • Call and follow-up on past due accounts.

  • Process returns when shutting down dealers.

  • Respond to equipment billing issues and resolve with dealer and/or other departments.

  • Monitor and analyze A/R aging reports, identifying trends and implementing strategies to reduce past due accounts.

  • Maintain positive relationships with dealers while ensuring adherence to payment terms.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

  • Assists in the creditworthiness of new and existing customers using financial data, credit reports, and payment history.

  • Conduct periodic customer reviews and update customer information, including credit limits, as necessary.

  • Assist the Credit Manager with the set-up of new dealer accounts, ensure guarantees signed and file appropriate UCCs with states.

  • Serve as back-up for deposit posting in absence of Credit Manager.

  • Process Wells Fargo and ACH payments, as well as mailed in payments daily.

  • Assist Accounting team annual audit, and other projects/tasks related to Accounts Receivable and Credit.

  • Maintain Accounts Receivable policies, procedures, and controls.



C.    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

·       High School diploma.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is a plus.

  • Minimum 2 years’ collections and/or credit experience.

·       Comprehensive understanding of credit principles, accounts receivable processes, and collection strategies.

·       A developed understanding of business entity document requirements and perfecting various collateral liens (UCC's) is a plus.

·       Proficient Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (e.g., create new documents, edit existing files, create tables, sort/filter data, print documents, generate new records, email, and assist with statement mailings). 

  • Power Equipment industry knowledge is a plus.

  • Analytical and math skills.

  • Excellent internal and external customer service.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to successfully negotiate when necessary.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills.

·       Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient with IBM iSeries, AS/400 and Mac a plus.

  • Working knowledge of financial, legal, UCC and bankruptcy issues.

  • Common and intuitive sense to deal with customers and company personnel in a positive, professional manner.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 25 pounds.
