The Journey of TOP Equipment: From Family-Owned Beginnings to Premier Power Equipment Distributor

FOUNDING + EARLY YEARS

TOP Equipment’s founder Patrick Elliott was the National Sales Manager for ECHO, Inc. from 1978 – 1986. In the Fall of 1986, TOP Equipment officially opened its doors. For the first couple of years, ECHO was the only product line distributed while operating solely in Texas in a 4,000 square foot building. The Elliott family implemented and continues to operate the business under a “Family First” mentality. Holding to the principles and values as a true business partner with dealers while focusing on their long-term success and profitability is the vision carried on through the years.

TOPE History Timeline

  • 1986

    Elliott family comes to Georgetown, Texas to start TOP Equipment. Originally started out of a 3,500 sq ft facility selling Echo in most of Texas only (excluding Houston region).

  • 1989

    Scag acquired for Texas

  • 1990

    10,000 sq ft facility built (116 Halmar Cove)

  • 1998

    Echo and Scag acquired in Oklahoma

  • 2008

    75,000 sq ft facility built (111 Halmar Cove)

  • 2009

    Echo and Scag acquired in Louisiana and Arkansas. Scag acquired in Mississippi.

  • 2010

    Added 70,000 sq ft to 111 Halmar Cove facility

  • 2021

     Echo acquired in Houston and surrounding 12 counties

  • 2022

    225,000 sq ft facility built (2301 Airport Road)

  • 2024

    Exmark acquired in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Western Tennessee
